Coyote – 2013

sorrow is coyote / in the rearview mirror

Coyote was a two-week project that took place in Yukon, in May 2013.

One loose rule I set for the project were to stay outdoors except for the gallery and grocery stores.

The intent was to camp around a section of land where I used to live in a community called Marsh Lake, to get a better understanding of my relationship with the place.

heartache is returning / not coming home

Another of my rules was to occasionally leave the place and return to Whitehorse and mark my movements in the gallery, by using material objects that I was finding on the site.

It started taking so long to mark my routes, that I couldn’t return to Marsh Lake to really do the work. The route quickly closed in on the gallery, where I eventually ended up cooking in the backyard, and washing my clothes in the bathroom sink of the gallery.

leaving again / breaking a promise
